Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is an environmental policy first introduced in 1988 in Sweden, requiring producers to take responsibility for the entire life cycle of products they put into the market, including their eventual disposal.

Since introduced, the EPR approach has been adopted by many countries and in 2019 several countries in Europe set about reforming EPR, extending the responsibilities of producers. If you sell in Austria, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom and/or Spain then it is likely you need to register for EPR to remain compliant.

EPR effectively shifts the cost of collecting household waste from the taxpayer to the producer with the ultimate goal of encouraging a more economical approach to packaging and more recycling of materials into high quality secondary resources.
